Know Your Shape

Here at Cesair, we value you as customer and want to give you the tools and information in order for you to have the best possible dialogue with us. Along with being comfortable and confident in your purchase and styling decisions.  When we discuss the female body there are typical 6 shapes used to do so. They describes the major horizontal circumference of the body( the shoulders, bust, waist and hips) in the relations to one another. These shapes are:

  • Hourglass (the ideal shape)
  • Inverted triangle (the cone shape)
  • Triangle (the pear shape)
  • Rectangle (also called the ruler, the brick, or the straight body)
  • Diamond
  • Oval

To know your shape there are a few methods you can use.

Method #1 – Measure your yourself. It is best if you have another person to help you. Measure the circumference with a flexible plastic measuring tape of your shoulders, bust, waist and hips. This is the most precise method.

Method#2 – Eye balling. Stand up straight in front of a full length mirror and assess your shoulders, bust, waist and hip to one another.

Method #3 – Stick method. Using a long stick, such as a broom or mop stick, place it onto the side of your body having the top end of the stick at the tip of your shoulder and the bottom end resting on the hip. In front of a full length mirror observed the angle of the stick. This is the easiest and faster method.

While performing one of these methods review the characteristics of the shapes that are given below to know what shape you are.

Hourglass

Also known as the ideal body shape has the following.

  • Placing the stick next to your body, the stick will show a straight line that is very closely to 90 degrees.
  • Your shoulders, bust and hips are the same width or they are within 5% of each other.
  • Your waist is smaller in width, at least 25% smaller, and is well define.

Triangle

Also referred to as pear shape has the following.

  • Placing the stick next to your body, the stick will show an angle that is less than 90 degrees.
  • Your  shoulders and bust are similar in proportion and are narrower, at least 5% smaller, than your hips.
  • You typically have a well defined waist.
  • Your thighs are typically full
  • You may also have a full rounded bottom.

Inverted Triangle

Also known as the cone shape has the the following.

  • Placing the stick next to your body, the stick will an angle that it is more than 90 degrees.
  • Your shoulder and bust are similar in proportion and broader, at least %5 bigger, than your hips.
  • You may have a well defined waist.
  • You may also have a flat bottom

Rectangle

Also referred to as a straight body has the following.

  • Placing the stick next to your body, the stick will show a straight line that is very closely to 90 degrees.
  • Your shoulders, bust and hips are the same width or they are within 5% of each other.
  • Your waist is slightly smaller in width, less than 25% smaller, and is not well define.
  • You typically have a small to medium bust size.
  • You may also have a flat bottom.

Diamond

This shape has the following.

  • Your mid-section is wider than you shoulders, bust and hips
  • Your waist is undefined
  • You have a large, high stomach
  • You may have “love handles”
  • You may have a full bottom or a flat bottom

Oval

This shape has the following.

  • Your shoulder, bust and hips are maybe relatively the same.
  • Your mid-section appears to be overall round.
  • Your waistline is undefined.
  • You have a large and low stomach.
  • You may have “love handles”.
  • Your upper thighs maybe full.
  • You may also have a full or a flat bottom.

*  Note: Diamond and Oval shapes are obtained through weight gain. If you are displeased with these shapes you can change it through diet and exercising.
